Pediatric Surgery is one of the subspecialties of Surgical Department. It was separated from General Surgery in 1960's. and is a very new surgical subspecialty. and the main patient category it is serving include new-born infants to 15- year old children. The realm of the pediatric surgery based mainly on new-born infant's congenital malformation surgical operation (such as the congenital esophageal atresia, small intestine atresia, biliary atresia, imperforated anus, diaphragmatic hernia, megacolon disease etc.), pediatric urological surgical operation (such as pediatric inguinal hernia, hydrocele, undescended testis, hypospadias, vesico-ureteral reflux disease etc.), and pediatric tumor surgical operation (such as renal tumor, neuroblastoma, ovarian tumor etc.).
　

     In Taiwan, only a few local hospitals provide pediatric surgery, because it is essential for the hospitals to have a strong team of pediatricians first, and a team of caretakers who is capable of taking care of the new-born infant, to meet the basic criteria of establishing a pediatric surgical department. Pediatric surgery specialty doctors must first accept four years of general surgical specialty training, pass the surgical specialty doctor qualification, then apply for the more two-year pediatric surgical specialty training. After passing the pediatric surgical specialty doctor examination, the pediatric surgical specialty doctor's qualification is then achieved.
　

      Doctor Huang, Yuan-Huei of the Hospital's Pediatric Surgical Department, had accepted the surgical specialty doctor training in the hospital during 1989 to 1993. After acquiring the surgical specialty doctor qualification, he went to the Mackay Memorial Hospital of Taipei from 1993 to 1995, and received a two-year complete training on pediatric surgery. He then passed the pediatric surgical board examination, and returned to Hsinchu Hospital. Doctor Huang started serving pediatric patients in the Hsinchu region in 1995. The patients of his usual service of surgical operations include children with pediatric inguinal hernia, hydrocele, and the undescended testis; he also performs various kinds of surgical operations for other new-born malformations and other pediatric urological diseases.
