Introduction to Traumatology

1. Objective:
One of the most important factors in the resuscitation of severely traumatized patients is time. The hospital established its ˇ§Trauma Teamˇ¨ in September 1999. It is currently the only trauma team in the Hsinchu area that provides the fastest and 24-hour non-stop
to service to saving lives. The aim is focused on patients with severely traumatic injury with the fastest and most perfect health care, to rescue every precious life.
2. Our Team:
To treat severely traumatic patient often needs the cooperation from multiple specialties(see
the followings), and our Hospital is able to provide the Hsinchu area with the strongest and most qualified team.
*Trauma Surgery and General Surgery
*Vascular surgery

*Neurosurgery
*Plastic Surgery (includes the only Burn Centre in Hsinchu, and microscopic surgery)
*Emergency medicine

*Radiology ( including trans-arterial embolization)

3. Achievements:
* Since establishment, we have saved over 120 severely traumatized patients every year.
* The average time that First-Aid Team is called to duty is less than ten minutes.
* The average time that a severely traumatized patient is delivered to the operation room is less than 30 minutes.
* The first successful treatment of
patient with liver injury by trans-arterial embolization in the Hsinchu area.
*The fastest and most experienced
first-aid team for pelvic bone fracture in the Hsinchu
area - external fixation and trans-arterial embolization.
*The only chest injury resuscitation
team in the Hsinchu area (both thoracic and
cardiovascular surgeons available in our hospital).
*The most complete trauma registry data
in the Hsinchu area, which provides a periodical report
analysis, and offers suggestions for injury prevention
and health care.
*Regular monthly trauma seminar to
promote the health care quality.
