Introduction to Thoracic Surgery

      Thoracic Surgery mainly deals with the surgical diseases of the chest. The Chest is composed of a large ratio of the human body, which covers everything from the neck down to above the abdomen. Besides the cardiovascular section which belongs to the cardiovascular surgery, and the vertebrate section which belongs to the neurological surgery and orthopedics, other organs such as the lung, trachea, bronchus, mediastinum, esophagus, diaphragm etc. are all within the range of the thoracic surgery service. Familiar diseases include lung tumor (including lung cancer), spontaneous pneumothorax, mediastinal tumor, esophageal tumor (including esophageal cancer), esophageal burn, traumatic hemothorax, diaphragmatic eventration, diaphragmatic injury, hyperhidrosis etc..
